Nurses week is celebrated May 6-12: National Nurses Day (May 6th) through Florence Nightingale’s birthday (May 12th). It’s fitting that the celebration ends with Florence Nightingale’s birthday, as she did revolutionize nursing. We’ve even named a non-medical condition after her: the Florence Nightingale Syndrome, which occurs when a caregiver develops strong feelings for, or falls in love with, the patient he/she is nursing. In turn, it can also psychologically effect the patient, who can develop romantic feelings toward their caretaker as they begin to see them as their protector. Hmm…rich, luxurious, gourmet cookies seem to have a special “effect” on people—should we call that the “Heavenly Cookie Effect”?

Regardless if you’ve experienced the Florence Nightingale Effect or not, I think its safe to say we can all agree that being sick isn’t fun—but being taken care of while you’re out-of-commission can make things a whole lot easier! Nurses have that little bit of magic to help you get better sooner, and there’s no better time to show your appreciation than for Nurses Week! Your angelic caregiver would love to see some care in return for all of their devotion and optimism along the way! Gourmet chocolate cookie baskets brimming with the decadence of cookies like chocolate chip, coconut macaroon, rocky road, raspberry eclipse, mint eclipse, oatmeal raisin, and English toffee Chocolate Chip should do the trick.

There are nearly 3.1 million registered nurses in the United States, and, 2.4 million of them are actively employed. Their motto: “Caring today for a healthier tomorrow.”

Not many of us have the opportunity to touch the lives of others (and save lives) on a daily basis like nurses do—Thank you to all of the wonderful, optimistic, fun and caring nurses out there!
