Grandparents Day Activities

Grandparents Day is a national holiday that falls every year on the Sunday after Labor Day. It is a wonderful day to celebrate family, look at old family photographs, and have grandparents share their special skills and talents like quilting, cooking, or story-telling. Have them help you preserve your family history by putting together a family tree and ask them about events that happened to your ancestors. There are all sorts of stylish family trees being created these days! Check out all of the lovely modern genealogy designs from My Tree and Me:

Family Tree

If you don’t have your dear ones close by, you can always send them a gourmet chocolate cookie basket via cookie delivery, and don’t forget your local nursing home—stop by for a visit with your children as a fun way to show grandparents in your area just how much they are appreciated regardless of who’s grandparents they are. Your kids can sing them the official song of Grandparents Day: “A Song For Grandma and Grandpa“—or you could always serenade them with a nice solo…

Forget-me-not

Your elderly neighbors will certainly be excited to see that you’ve remembered them on Grandparents Day if you show up to their door holding a tray brimming with gourmet cookies and a vase of some fresh Forget-me-not flowers (the official Grandparents Day flower)!

Happy Grandparents Day!
